Remarks: This book might have been more aptly entitled as: The Latter History of India: Revisited. Although the authors occasionally allude to ancient Indian culture, the book begins with the era of the Muslim Sultanate of the second millennium. Further, the book assumes some background with Indian history (at least more background than I obtained from my middle-school course in Ancient Civilizations). Therefore, I might suggest this as a second book to follow a more remedial history. Nevertheless, the book does provide thorough historical commentary.
